Just watched Factory Girl yesterday for the millionth trillionth time. I love it so much and I don't know why, but it brings out my inner hate for Warhol.
I think he had issues, but what great artist doesn't?

Sorry for the lack of updates, my schedule has been, well, crazy to say the least. Last week of classes, papers, online discussions, and finals are next week. So I apologize.
Today I'd like to introduce an artist whose works I'm very fond of. Her name is Alice Neel! I'm sure many of you have heard of her before; she's a famous portrait painter. She's been painting for a very long time, since at least the 1920's.
This is a painting of Andy Warhol done in oil paint measuring 60 inches by 40 inches:

This was painted in the 70's, as you can also tell because Warhol looks aged; we all know he died in 1987. I love Neel's style and use of line. She also uses oils in a very unique way. I almost would have guessed that this was done in watercolor if I had not known.
This is another painting that I really enjoy, titled Hartley, oil on canvas and painted in 1965, measuring 50 inches by 36 inches.

I just love her paintings so much and I don't know why but I do!

Just an update! Towson University is holding a student art show! I didn't get a chance to enter anything because all my artwork was back home! But nonetheless, I am looking forward to seeing everyone's work! I'll update with the dates and times of the show soon!

Today I went to the Asian Arts Gallery/Exhibition located in the Center for the Arts building at my school (Towson University). There were a lot of intriguing pieces including ink paintings, carved wooden sculptures, porcelain pottery and statues (some of Buddha), tapestries, among many others.
Ultimately, I went in and viewed the gallery because I have to write a 2 page report for my art history class. After walking around though, I developed a liking for some of the pieces.
Here is one piece that I liked.

Since I love graphic design I love images, advertisements, etc... This is something that caught my eye; it's an awesome advertisement and a good sales pitch.Women modeling men's underwear! Kind of strange when you first think about it, but seems like a good idea now (and plus it's sexy). "Men don't want to look at naked men", hence, naked women now modeling men's underwear!!

The beginning...

I'm making this new blog to share my art work with everyone. Kind of like an online portfolio, but not really. I'd also like to share my thoughts about works by other artists as well as my criticisms. For example, if I go to a art show or visit certain galleries/museums, I'll give my personal summary.
I've been using deviant art and I still continue to, but sometimes it just gives me a creepy vibe. Nonetheless my site is http://missjessicalukasz.deviantart.com/
